I feel that with the title of artist comes a responsibility to honor the artists before you. Being raised in a family where art is everywhere and considered so extremely important, I was able to learn and develop my talent. I enjoy working with the human figure in a naturalistic surrounding. Combining organic flowing lines and skeletal structure of the human form with the shapes and lines of a landscape provides me the language to create a dynamic work of art. My paintings also reflect a painterly study of light and color. Therefore I can look to artists like Sorolla, Zorn, and Sargent, as well as present day artists like Steven Scott Young, for motivation and inspiration.
Directions
Start on Main Street heading north (toward the Hyatt or NOMA Square). Turn left onto Buncombe Street. Continue straight on Buncombe Street, passing Buncombe Street United Methodist Church and The Public Library on your right. As the road forks, stay left to continue onto Pete Hollis Boulevard. Pete Hollis becomes Cedar Lane Road — just stay on the same road. In 1 mile Pate Studio and Gallery is on the Right.
