Artist Statement

The focus for my current studio work is hand-built ceramic sculptures and sculptural vessels. In regards to the clay vessel, I am particularly interested in the vase and bowl. My sculpture work gravitates towards abstract pottery sculpture forms. The work is inspired by a collage of influences: natural form, architectural decoration, historical pots, the figure, the heart shape, automatic drawing. Overall, rhythm, stacking parts, and promoting a strong sense of shape and form together guide my decisions for studio work that I find playful and serious and most compelling to my drive to create something personal yet open-ended; useful for displaying a flower arrangement or sparking one’s imagination or sharing a personal vision.

From downtown, take Augusta St and turn left onto Mauldin Rd (Pickwick Pharmacy is on the left). Continue on Mauldin Rd until it becomes W Butler Rd. Turn left on Pinecrest Dr then left onto Wood Creek Rd. The destination is on the right.
