My work explores the complexity of memory. While images serve as a visual record of everyday events, they often present a contradiction between truthful representation and personal interpretation. Through mixed media, I examine this tension. Process is central to my practice. I integrate traditional textile methods, such as appliqué, hand embroidery, and beading, with fine art practices like drawing, painting, and collage. Careful observation guides my exploration of texture, color, and line across these mediums. A key aspect of my work is the use of vintage textiles and lace. These materials carry their own history, telling stories through their fibers. Their wear and age symbolize the passage of time, aligning with the themes of memory and imperfect recollection that I explore. By incorporating these fabrics, I connect the past with the present, allowing their stories to merge with my own artistic narrative.
