Students will step outside the boundaries of ordinary class instruction with artist-in-residence Adam Maalouf, as he takes students on a musical journey around the globe. With over 10 years of experience teaching percussion in and out of schools, Adam incorporates the many dimensions of his culture and expertise to craft a lesson that is engaging, interactive, and fun.
“We’re really pleased with how much Adam worked with the students and how he helped stretch them a little bit. They worked beyond what they’re comfortable with and got a little stronger with public speaking and public performance,” says Newton Ransom Elementary School Principal, Amy Williams.
Native to Greenville, South Carolina, Adam bridges his Lebanese heritage with his American roots to incorporate global rhythms into his lesson plans. Students of Adam not only get the opportunity to have hands-on experience with drums and musical instruments from around the world, but also compose and record music together through collaboration.
Lessons expand beyond the musical teaching to include social-emotional connection, laughter, and creativity.
