The process of making a portrait whether it is a street portrait of a stranger or a studio sitting with a conceptually driven perspective is endlessly fascinating to me. The mix of technical skill, empathy, and focus needed to create an iconic yet nuanced portrait keeps me making images every single day. My work largely revolves around speaking to the idea of identity in the South. This work involves both photographing my family and close friends as well as communities and subcultures that are not often explored through the photographic medium in the South.
