I am a ceramic artist who makes functional pottery. The complexities and the unlimited possibilities of clay are what interests me most.
With my background in textiles and design, I find floral patterns, nature and architecture are often what inspire me. With the surface of a pot I use slips and underglazes in a layering manner that is similar to printmaking, and painting. The intuitive process takes place when the clay forms influence the surface designs allowing always for the trace of hand. Ultimately, I appreciate ceramics for it's hand made qualities that can provide a touch of beauty and art in one's daily life. This is why I work in clay.
