Artist Statement

Memories. Dreams. Fantasy. Paths That Cross is some of each. The suggestive narrative, based on a blend of Norse and Grecian mythology, is a tale of life, the roads we take, the people we meet. The images invite the viewer to interpret the images based on their own experiences. Paths that cross will cross again.

Photographed in the studio, each image is constructed on set from a collection of wardrobe and props based on a loose concept for the session. A carefully blended palette of cool tones and textures, the final images are both photographic and photo-based mixed media.

Select images from the series are treated with an encaustic process utilizing hot wax, poured onto the image, then scraped away and oil-based pigments then applied. Each mixed media piece is then a unique work of art.
