Old photographs, memories and my sentiments towards them inspire me to paint. From these things I find spirits that I want to give life to during the process. In the end each painting's spirit has it's own identity. Some appear invincible with their bold black lines, others insecure with oddly shaped bodies. Some live in bright, happy settings, others in somber, gray places. All are very tactile with papers I've made and then collaged in. Often by the time I've finished a painting I'll recognize someone I know quite well.
From downtown, take S Main St to Pendleton St. Turn right onto Pendleton St and continue approximately 1 mile into the Village of West Greenville. Turn left onto Draper St, then right onto Abney. Drive through the gate of the historic Brandon Mill. The Greenville Center for Creative Arts is located in the center of the Mill complex. Enter through the front door and take the stairs at the back of the gallery, or the elevator to the 2nd floor where the studios are located.
