KERIGHAN BULTEMEIER

Medium: Printmaking , Mixed Media , Painting , Open Studios , Visual Arts , Drawing

My painting and photography is inspired by light and nature. Since childhood I have
been intrigued by light - by its ability to create shadow and various shades of glowing
hues. Since then, I developed an artistic curiosity for why a glimpse of morning
sunshine thru a laced curtain or trellis of overgrown blackberry vines can invoke
memories, stir the soul or comfort the heart. During the pandemic I was confronted
with pain and loss that lead me to wondered how relatives once enslaved may have
used nature and sunlight to embolden and fortify their spirits. This thought has guide
my recent work in both mediums.
I paint abstract works intuitively building texture and layers of acrylic paints , oil
pastels, watercolor and pencils to enlighten the heart and a room. Myhope is that
collectors and viewers of my work will be called to feelings and emotions of joy when
experiencing my work.
My work is influenced by such artist as Alma Thomas, Mary Lovelace O'Neal, and
Sam Gilliam.
