John Roberts was born in East Tennessee in 1950 and enjoyed the instruction and encouragement of his artist father. He began by sitting on his father’s lap, holding his father’s paint brush as they would “work together” on a design. During his years in high school art, an understanding teacher turned John’s ambitions toward art education, and eventually he earned his Master’s Degree in Studio Art from Bob Jones University. He retired from BJU in May of 2012 as Chairman of the Department of Art Education. John presently resides in Greer, SC, with his wife. John's art directs our attention to his roots in East Tennessee and his love of similar images with which he grew up, that of the country.
