ABOUT THE ARTIST
Local Greenville artist, Caroline Calder, has been painting for more than a decade. Her affection for the arts began in her childhood with the encouragement of her family, she loved expressing herself by drawing, coloring, and creating with her imagination. Caroline majored in Marketing from the University of South Carolina. After graduation, she continues to learn, develop her skills and knowledge in the arts by continuing her education through Furman University, Greenville County Art Museum, GCCA, and numerous workshops.
Caroline creates her art through a variety of mediums predominately working in acrylics and mixed media while experimenting with new techniques and processes. Her work is expressive, intuitive, and contemplative. She uses color, form, texture, and pattern to reflect her love of the natural world and the human spirit. She hopes her work reflects joy and appreciation of life while posing optimistic questions for the future. Caroline has exhibited her work in local exhibits, shows and galleries across the upstate of SC as well as in many local fundraising efforts. Caroline's work has received awards as as one of the winners in the Metropolitan Arts Council (MAC) 2020 Flat Out Under Pressure Juried Exhibition, as one of the juried winners for the Fall 2021 Camperdown Art Walk exhibit by the Art Houzze, as a finalist in the BMW Pro-Am Poster Contest 2022, which she received the People’s Choice Award.
