Artist Statement

I prefer to use oil paint on canvas to create an art piece with a unique point of view of the subject matter. My technique with brush and oil color is painting "a la prima", wet onto wet canvas, not aiming for realism, but rather staying alert to the spontaneous opportunities the piece presents during the process. I usually select the subject matter that says something special to me. I try to convey that essence in the piece. some of my work comes from deep sources like dreams, grief, insecurities, whimsey or a pure release of putting pain(t) to canvas. These happenings are harder to harness, but totally are the true expression this artist seeks.

South on Academy Street to Pendleton Street; turn left at light by BurgerKing; continue through The Village at West Greenville about 3/4 mile; At road sign and arrow for "Art Center," turn left onto Draper street to the next right onto Abney Street; turn into gated parking lot; look for Large Red GCCA sculpture at entrance.
