CALL FOR PUBLIC ART: City of Greenville’s Breezeway at the New Civic Center
The City of Greenville, SC is requesting proposals from qualified artists or design professionals for the design, fabrication and installation of a large-scale permanent public art installation to be displayed in the breezeway to the City’s new Civic Design Center, located at 15 South Main Street in downtown Greenville.

Guidelines:
• Eligibility: Open to individual artists, design professionals or teams. Submissions must be original works of art.
• Theme: The proposed artwork must be appropriate for a diverse audience. Submissions containing images or other references to drugs, alcohol, tobacco, sex, violence, politics, religion, or previously copyrighted or trademarked content will not be considered.
• Dimensions & Specifications: The breezeway dimensions are 57’L, 17.5’, and 16’W. Proposals must ensure that the artwork does not interfere with the building’s fire suppression system, exhaust vents, or CCTV system. 3-dimensional works should not block the overhead sprinklers. While modifica ons to light fixtures within the breezeway are permi ed, major changes to the electrical systems will not be allowed. The artwork may extend down the walls/sides of the breezeway but must not obstruct the walkway itself.
• Media: Open to all media, but materials must be durable, easy to maintain and suitable for permanent outdoor display.
• Budget: The anticipated budget for the project is $50,000. City Responsibilities: The City will provide for the following:
• Coordination and communication with the property manager, adjacent businesses and city staff • Coordination of any permits or licenses necessary for installation
• Designating parking and loading space
• Assistance with site access and control
• All marketing/PR, graphics and signage
Submission Requirements:

2. Artwork Proposal: Include high-quality conceptual renderings of the proposed artwork, along with a detailed description of materials, dimensions and installation requirements/method. Please provide a detailed budget to include artist fees, insurance, licenses, equipment, materials, fabrication, installation and travel expenditures.
3. Letter of Interest: Submit a letter describing your interest in the project and experience working on comparable projects.
4. References: Please provide names and contact information for three (3) references who have knowledge of your work.
5. Examples of Work/Artwork: Submit up to five (5) images of completed art installations or past commissions. For each image, include the title of the artwork, location, budget, year completed, medium and dimensions.
