About

The Edward R. Driggers City of Greer Center for the Arts stands as Greer’s central destination for visual and performing arts, offering residents and visitors a welcoming, lively place to experience creativity and community. Housed in a thoughtfully restored 1955 building, once a church and later the Greer City Auditorium, the Center was revitalized with a $2.5 million renovation and reopened in 2019 as a modern cultural hub.

Inside its facility, the Center for the Arts features a black-box theater (seating around 125), dedicated classrooms, pottery and art studios, gallery space for rotating exhibitions, and studio spaces for local artists in residence. This configuration makes it ideal for a mix of artistic disciplines from theater, dance, and music to painting, ceramics, mixed media, and photography, so everyone from established artists to curious beginners can find a place here.

Complementing the indoor arts space is a beautiful adjacent park and public green space, complete with walking paths, a small amphitheater, playground, and open lawns. This combination of creative venue and outdoor space makes the Center an inviting place not just for formal programs, but also for casual community gatherings, outdoor performances, and events that showcase the spirit of Greer’s growing arts district.

Programming at the Center is broad and inclusive: art classes and workshops for children, teens, and adults; rotating gallery exhibitions featuring local and regional artists; theatre productions, dance performances, and music recitals; and community events that encourage civic participation and cultural exchange. As home to the city’s Cultural Arts Division, the Center also supports an artist-in-residence program, giving working artists access to studio space and a platform to share their work.

Whether you’re seeking a night at the theater, an art class, a chance to meet local creators, or simply a peaceful walk through a park next to inspiring art, the Edward R. Driggers City of Greer Center for the Arts welcomes you. It stands as a testament to Greer’s commitment to supporting the arts, fostering community, and enriching cultural life for all.
