TESSHA ZIMMERMAN DICKEY
I can’t remember a time when I didn’t want to have a pencil or crayon in my hands; it’s fueled my desire to be an artist. I’m fascinated by pattern, movement, light, color and the small unexpected, unnoticed parts of life. I often work in both painting and fiber using the changes in medium to refresh my creativity. Working with fiber gives me a freedom with patterns and whimsy that are often outside the scope of my painting. Regardless of whatever else I want to dabble in, my roots are in painting. I always come back and find whole new things to study and explore. I am an artist that enjoys direct contact with my tools and work. I prefer the tactile response that a paintbrush or needle gives me without having to rely on technology or large amounts of equipment. Life is full of pieces made of color and rhythm, and my greatest desire is to study it and capture its essence.
