Artist Statement

I was a custom dressmaker for 25 years (graduate of The Fashion Institute of Technology in NY). In 2022, I made a hat out of scrap fabric and wore it around town.
After much excitement and interest, I began selling our first hat style, the 3"" bucket hat. As of now (2025), I have personally hand sewn and sold over 2,000 hats.

R. Cappelli is a bespoke hat studio in the Village of West Greenville that creates wearable art. I hand sew 7 different hat styles including News boys, Trilbys, Cabbies, bucket hats and fascinators. We carry over 700 exquisite fabrics which are used to design and hand sew our custom fit, one of a kind hats. Most of our hats are reversible, foldable and packable.

What do I love the most? Seeing the excitement and joy watching people try on our hats and helping them design their own!
