Artist Statement

Born here in the great state of South Carolina, Greenville, 73 years ago. I was raised on Dunbar Street, and attended Saint Anthony Catholic School. At the age of 7, my family moved to Philadelphia, PA. In Junior High School I found myself interested in art. I received my associates in fashion merchandising, and went on to work at Ebony Magazine. After the passing of my husband in 2004, I decided to follow my artistic inclinations and pursue full-time in my retirement. I returned to school at age 63 at Greenville Tech and later Furman University. I'm very fascinated by movement and texture, and I take inspiration from everyday life. I create works in various media that reflects the joy I find in creativity, simplicity in nature and culture.
