Abstract work, for me, is a combination of form and color…. it’s a gestural motion ….it’s a veiled or bold color. None of that is planned. I don’t start a painting with a color or shape in mind. I start my day by meditating in front of my large white canvas, scraping down what I don’t like and moving around the canvas working intensively. I don’t have in mind a concept, it’s a feeling that pours into the canvas. A feeling that originates in my guts. A bit hard to explain but abstract starts with a white blaring canvas before the work is completed. It might take a month or six months or one year before its done. Abstract it’s when you don’t recognize a person, a house or a tree, any images. It can be created by forming shapes or by having organic spaces, where one area merges into another without a defying line. It’s a feeling, some of my work is dark, related to a particular dark time in my life, other have a dripping tears effect. All related to what I was going through in my personal life. My abstracts reflects a lot of me.
