MIKE VATALARO

Medium: Clay & Wood , Open Studios , Sculpture & Metal , Visual Arts

Artist Statement

For over 40 years my influences have ranged from historical ceramics to contemporary environmental concerns. Using both terra cotta and stoneware I tend to focus on the beauty of the raw clay surface often enhanced by the use of glazes in a variety of firing techniques. Using the potter’s wheel as a generator of form, my work varies from functional vessels to sculptural works for pedestals and walls.
