Artist Statement

With watercolor paint and pencil, I am able to express my interpretation of and emotional reaction to events in my life and the objects around me. I lose myself in mixing and making shapes, colors, and textures into something of substance that I and maybe others can later look at and find beauty and meaning. Putting paint to paper relaxes me, and, if lucky, I find myself approaching a state of meditative peacefulness. Not every painting works, but, by stressing creative application of evolving techniques and abstractions, I keep learning and improving my capacity to represent what makes each of us human.
