I am a native of Greenville, South Carolina and I work primarily with oil on canvas. My subjects range from wildlife, to land and seascapes, to ethnic (African/American). My African-Americans works are inspired by deep meaning and open to various interpretations. It is always my attempt to capture the pride within a struggle or the hope within despair. With my wildlife works, be it waterfowl, birds of the air, or fish and manuals of the sea my attempt is only to capture the beauty of nature. Working with a cool or blue palette, my goal is to get people to notice a beauty that needs no interpretation. I attempt to open the public’s eyes to the vast number of colors found on the blackbird or the many shades of blue of the Blue Jay or multiple shade of red of the Cardinal. With my underwater works, my goal is to be as true to life as possible. If one can see the true beauty of the sea turtle or the simplicity of the coral reef the desire to protect and save planet earth will come naturally. My colors are strong and un-diluted to reflect the boldness of nature itself. It is this style of painting that has become recognized throughout the southeast.
