Y'allternative — bold, wearable pieces that blend Southern flair with an outsider edge, grounded in resilience and radical self-expression.
I first discovered metalsmithing in 2013 while attending the Fine Arts Center in high school, and I’ve been captivated by the process ever since. After earning my Associate’s Degree in Fine Art from Greenville Technical College, I apprenticed for two years at a chain jewelry store starting in 2020, where I learned the ins and outs of fine jewelry fabrication and repair. That experience gave me the technical foundation I needed to branch out on my own — and start creating jewelry that tells a story, takes up space, and challenges norms.
As a transgender artist, my work is deeply influenced by identity, visibility, and the power of adornment as a form of both resistance and celebration. The political climate we live in — especially in the South — is ever-present in my mind and fuels my desire to make pieces that empower people to express themselves unapologetically. Jewelry, to me, is both a shield and a beacon. It says: I’m here, I’m proud, and I won’t be ignored.
My designs often incorporate natural gemstones and always center around sterling silver. I make everything by hand — bolo ties, bandana slides, earrings, necklaces, and more — with care and intention. Sustainability is a core value at Aconite & Silver: I use recycled silver whenever possible, source ethical gemstones, and aim to create quality pieces that last a lifetime, not a season.
Above all, my work is about resilience — in identity, in craft, and in community. Through Aconite & Silver, I offer pieces that are more than just accessories. They’re declarations.
