Artist Statement
I guess you could call me a mixed media artist. I have worked and retired as a visual arts instructor, book artist, and bookbinder for 30 plus years. My life as an art educator has been challenging and fun. Now that I am fully retired, the fun is not yet over. My most recent works are collages in which bookbinding materials and processes are used. Bits and pieces of book cloth, decorative papers, and ephemera from previous binding jobs are finding places in my art. My love for backyard birds and garden flowers are finding a place in my artwork. Additionally, my larger canvas paintings include the “Feather and Floral” theme.
