Artist Statement

I have had the opportunity to live in several states and visit many places. I have found beauty in all these locations. I moved to South Carolina in October 1999. I enjoy painting the landscapes and architecture of different areas as well as flowers and other subjects. I especially love painting abstracts.

I enjoy working in watercolors, acrylics and inks because they flow on the paper and can be applied thick and dense or as glazes for a translucent effect. They also hold unexpected surprises when one is working with them.

I have taken workshops from prominent artists, Tony Couch, Gary Akers, Paul George, Carlton Plummer and Betty Lou Schrems. I have learned from them and through adaptation have developed my own style.

I am a member of the Greenville Metropolitan Arts Council, Blue Ridge Art Council, and The Arts Center of Clemson. I have shown and sold my work in the Upstate of SC as well as the other states I have lived in.

I was juried into the 34th Annual South Carolina Artist Exhibition. I have also been juried into exhibitions by The Anderson Artist Guild where I was awarded a first prize for an abstract.

In addition I have participated in the Anderson Soiree and Greenville Art in the Park and various events sponsored by the Blue Ridge Art Council, The Arts Center of Clemson, and Upstate Visual Arts.
