The mission of International Ballet is to inspire joy and success through professional ballet training and performances. Our vision is to make the art of ballet accessible to all.
About
Founded in 2003, International Ballet (IB) is a classical ballet training academy for ages 3 to adult and an Arts Partner at the Peace Center, performing full-length ballets such as Swan Lake, Don Quixote, and The Nutcracker with the Greenville Symphony Orchestra. IB believes in the importance of collaborating with community partners, and has several outreach programs serving people with one or more of the following challenges: intellectual or physical disabilities, limited income, and lack of opportunity or exposure to the art of ballet. IB provides free ballet classes and performance opportunities through its Project Pirouette and Accessibility programs, and offers free performances of children’s literature through its Storytime Ballet series. In addition to the Peace Center, IB’s own Black Box Theater is home to our Youth Company’s mixed repertoire programs each Fall. International Ballet students have gone on to dance professionally with Joffrey Ballet, San Antonio Ballet, Ballet Idaho, Classical Ballet of Napoli, and Ballet Theatre of Maryland, as well as to study further at the School of American Ballet in NYC and The John Cranko School in Germany. IB operates under the leadership of President Sarah Shoemaker, Artistic Director Vlada Kysselova, and the IB Board of Directors.
