Artist Statement

Wearable Art. The idea that one can create pieces of art that can be worn on the body greatly influenced my decision to design jewelry. An art background probably helped develop my particular style, which is contemporary and sculptural. But it’s my love of the hands-on process that I believe sets my pieces apart from others. Although wirework is my specialty, I do most of my own glass fusing and lampworking, along with metalsmithing. My home studio is the place where I learn, create, and teach. Being located in the beautiful western Carolina region provides plenty of natural inspiration. I’m influenced by organic shapes and earthy colors, and lean toward modern and abstract forms. I’m drawn to the depth of layered glass along with the complexity of semi-precious stones, and love to combine these elements with precious metals. I take great care and personal pride in perfecting every item I make. My goal is to use high quality materials to create unique, imaginative, and original jewelry designs.
