My love of 3 dimensional art is fueled by organic shapes and heavy texture. The organic forms are inspired by the elements like water and earth while also sensing wind and fire in the surface design. The glazes I use have the same organic rhythm with heavy drips and layering of color to give depth and surprises. I use line to create rhythm and move the eye on a harmonious path around the piece with no beginning and no end. I mainly hand build due to its more imperfect and intuitive design. Sculpting, for me, is freeing and in that, I mainly discover the form as it presents itself. Sometimes I do have a loose plan but often times I simply create from a block of clay in a quiet space. Whether I create a functional vessel or a sculptural form, I do it without fear and with raw emotion. This comes from my belief that in creating there is healing, in healing, there is inspiration, in inspiration, there is learning, and in learning, there is love. Every piece is a piece of me and I love sharing them.
