Artist Statement

I am a resident of West End, Greenville, having recently moved here from Pittsburgh, PA. I received my BFA in Art Education at Virginia Commonwealth Univ. My masters in Ceramics at WVU. I am a retired Art High School Art for 27 years. I particpated in exhibits at multiple gallery locations in Pittsburgh,Pa,. The Society of Contemporary Crafts, Society of Pittsburgh Artists, Upper St. Clair League for the Arts and more.

In my earlier years, my ceramic and mixed media sculptures were related to the essence of nature or the life struggles of women throughout history. This came about through participation in a museum art exhibit that required proof of researching the subject matter of the work any artist submitted.

In the last 7 years, my artistic focus changed to creating beautifully glazed functional pottery. I want to create a work of art that is a joy to use. I am still producing functional ware now, but I like creating mixed media sculpture.

The many historical water towers located in Greenville inspired me to throw miniature lidded water towers. I will happily create a watertower of any type on consignment."
