Put away your camera, loosen up, and learn how to capture the essence of the urban landscape with quick, loose marker sketches and fun watercolor washes. For beginners through the professional, this class is a must for lovers of architecture, travel, and exploring a sense of place.
After a short time in the classroom with structured lessons, we’ll hit the streets of downtown Simpsonville practicing a combination of directed sketching assignments and “on your own” sketching. We will finish our sketches at a nearby coffee shop by painting them in with a relaxing watercolor technique.
Plenty of demonstrations, one-on-one instruction, and a strong dose of encouragement are included. We’ll cover an introduction/refresher to perspective as you learn to sketch three dimensional structures. Also we will practice watercolor techniques, composition, good viewpoints for drama/interest, simplifying and faking details, suggesting various building materials, simulating foliage and landscaping.
Most important you will learn how to loosen up, while acquiring a free, yet controlled style all your own. This class happens rain or shine! In case of inclement weather, we will focus on the amazing interiors of the Simpsonville Arts Center.
