Community Cast Audition Registration

• Performance Dates:
  • Friday, April 28 at 7:00
  • Saturday, April 29 at 1:00 and 6:30
• Performance Location: Peace Center Gunter Theatre

Carolina Ballet Theatre is looking to cast dancers as follows:

Dancers aged 9-18 who take a minimum of 2 ballet classes per week and have previously performed in a professional ballet show. For DanceArts Greenville students, Level 4B through Level 7 are allowed to audition.

REGISTRATION

Please read all the information below and register via the link. If this is your dancer’s first production with CBT, print out the Dancer Contract and turn it in prior to your dancer’s first rehearsal. A Production Fee of $150 is required for each show your dancer participates in during the CBT season and is due prior to your dancer’s first rehearsal. Registration for auditions will close Friday, January 20 at noon.

AUDITION DAY INFORMATION

Auditions will be held January 22nd at the DanceArts Greenville (DAG) Studios located at 255 Service Bay Road Mauldin, SC 29662.

Dancers aged 9-11/DAG Level 4A/B

Registration: 1:30pm

Audition: 2:00-2:45pm

Parent meeting at 2:30

Dancers aged 12-18/ DAG Level 5B-7

Registration: 3:00pm

Audition: 3:30-4:30pm

Parent meeting at 4:00

Only registered dancers will be allowed to audition. Please be prompt. Dancers will not be admitted into the audition after it has begun. All auditions are closed.

Auditioning dancers should be dropped off at the DAG entrance of the building (double doors). A check-in table will be set up inside. Once checked-in, your dancer will be escorted to the studios for the audition. After the audition has finished, dancers will be escorted back out to the lobby where you may pick them up. The parent meeting will be held outside on the porch weather permitting.

Girl’s attire – tights, leotard (no skirt), ballet shoes and pointe shoes if applicable, hair in a neat bun. No jewelry.

Boy’s attire – trim fitted t-shirt, tights, shorts or black tights, ballet shoes, jazz shoes, or socks.

AUDITION PROCESS:

Dancers will be divided into small groups based on age and perform basic steps/combinations for CBT’s Artistic Staff. Dancers will be evaluated based on their performance and execution of the steps. Dancers will then be photographed for height.

Remind your dancer that if at any time they feel ill or need to use the restroom to please ask a volunteer for assistance. We would like the dancer to be as comfortable as possible during this process.

DANCERS CHOSEN FOR THE PRODUCTION:

All roles in CBT’s performances are cast by height, skill, and ability. Each role has a specific height requirement and dancers must be able to fit into the production costumes. Dancers will be placed in a role as best fits their abilities within the production. Dancers will not be able to choose their own role.

Dancers chosen for the production will be sent results and further details by Friday, January 27 via the primary email address on the registration form. Dancers chosen for the production must attend all rehearsals, costume fittings, and cast photo shoots. Rehearsals will be held every weekend at DanceArts Greenville studios. Rehearsal schedules will be released on a weekly basis by Mondays at noon. Not all parts will rehearse every weekend.
