Art & Light Gallery is pleased to present Reconstructed, a two-person exhibition of work by Holly Graham and Scotty Peek April 2 - April 27, 2024 with an opening reception on Friday, April 5 from 6:00 - 8:00 PM. Reconstructed connects the varied artistic practices of Graham and Peek to create a symbiotic relationship in line and color. With different materials the artists find variation in texture, composition, and technique. The pairing brings to attention the similarities in how the artists construct depth with layering of material and use color to build dynamic compositions.

Holly Graham creates three-dimensional collages based on a relationship with music, memories and color. Color is the central focus of Graham’s work in materials rich with texture. Thick acrylic paint, gouache, watercolor paper, canvas, foam core, and balsa wood are placed into compositions, giving her work a tactile quality that draws the viewer in and creates contrast and depth.

Scotty Peek paints landscapes that are representational but play with abstraction in the artist’s bold mark making and evidence of process. Peek often starts paintings from life or photos but abandons the reference to focus on how the painting functions as a non-representational image. Ultimately, he aims to find a balance between representation and abstraction in a palette that is connected to the landscape but harmoniously balanced in relation.
