Porto Seguro (Safe Harbor) plays the music of Brazil from early 20th century Choro – "the New Orleans jazz of Brazil" - to mid-century Bossa Nova – a fusion of samba and jazz - as well as other Brazilian song styles. Their wide range of material features an instrumental ensemble including guitar, bass, mandolin, flute and percussion, along with the talented voice of Alva Anderson, who sings in both English and Portuguese. Alva’s voice brings unique jazz and folk influences to Porto Seguro’s entire repertoire.
