Drawing on their life-long passion for Russian and Ukrainian folk music and their diverse cultural backgrounds, these superbly gifted artists performing on the Domra and Guitar present a program that includes Russian, Ukrainian, Jewish and Gypsy folk music.

Marina Alexandra was born in Ukraine and emigrated to the United States with her family in 1996 and in 1998 was awarded a scholarship to earn her Master of Music degree at the University of South Carolina. Her concert career spans more than 20 years, taking her to Piccolo Spoleto, National Public Radio, and hundreds of venues including colleges, guitar festivals and museums throughout the USA. She has served on the faculties of Furman University, USC-Aiken, Wingate University and Columbia College.

Angelina -Galashenkova Reed has toured the world as a soloist with the Andreyev Russian Folk Orchestra of St. Petersburg, Russia, performing with them at Carnegie Hall’s 100th anniversary. A virtuoso of the three-string domra, she holds a master’s degree in performance and teaching from Gnessin Institute of Moscow. Angelina emigrated to the United States in 2001 and has performed around the country as part of the duo “9 String Theory” and as domra soloist with “Balalaika Fantasie” (both well-known to our audience). She is also the concertmaster and domra soloist of the Atlanta Balalaika Society Orchestra.
