Katie Walker will celebrate fall in the next installment of the Art & Light gallery partnership with The Anchorage restaurant in the Village of West Greenville. Acclaimed artist Katie Walker has exhibited in the Greenville County Museum of Art, the Spartanburg (S.C.) Museum of Art, the Pickens County (S.C.) Museum of Art and History, the Columbia (S.C.) Museum of Art and the Georgia Museum of Art. Her work was included in the 2005 Florence, Italy, Biennale, where she was an award winner. Walker regularly shows in galleries across the Southeast. She has taught at Furman University where she earned her BA in studio art. She holds an MFA from the University of Georgia and studied and taught in the University’s Cortona Study Abroad program in Italy. Her work appeared in New American Paintings, Vol. 40, 2002.
Walker states, "My work is a process where one calculation leads to the next and so on, until the dialectic, the energy and the opposing forces are interesting and complete to me. The finished “image” is a compilation of my ideas and experiences and my reaction to the materials I am using. I manipulate them to build a language of personal imagery that, to me, is aesthetically pleasing, thought-provoking and at times, humorous. I encourage the viewer to interpret their meaning based on their own experiences. I work primarily with acrylic on canvas, paper, and wood."
Katie Walker’s Anchorage exhibition will be released through Art & Light gallery on October 3 and will conclude on January 6, 2024. The exhibit is also on view during regular dining hours at The Anchorage. Join Katie during a ticketed artist meet and greet and artist talk on Thursday, October 26 from 4:30-6pm EST to learn more about the artist and the inspiration behind her collection. Reservations are available for dinner after the event by contacting The Anchorage. During the event, a signature cocktail is served along with small bites, resulting in the perfect culmination of fine art and fine food.
