Course Description
Discover a safe, low-toxic alternative to traditional acid etching in this 2-day jewelry and metals workshop with Julia McIntyre. Using low-voltage electrical currents and simple salt solutions, students will etch detailed patterns and images into copper, brass, and nickel silver.
Course topics include:
Resist Application: Using liquid resists, vinyl masks, and toner transfer methods to transfer custom artwork onto metal.
Etching Equipment & Safety: Setting up power supplies, bath chemistry, and controlling depth of etch.
Finishing & Applications: Cleaning, applying patinas, and integrating etched sheet metal into jewelry design or decorative objects.
