Course Description
Explore the tactile world of hand papermaking in this 3-day immersive workshop with artist Kate Timbes. Students will learn to transform plant fibers and recycled materials into custom flat sheets and three-dimensional cast forms.
Through hands-on studio time and live demonstrations, participants will cover:
Pulp Preparation & Processing: Beating fibers, mixing slurries, and utilizing natural pigments for color.
2D Sheet Forming: Mastering techniques with the mold and deckle, couching, pressing, and drying custom papers.
3D Cast Papermaking: Utilizing molds, armatures, and relief structures to form sculptural paper objects.
