Contra Dance

Contra dance is a high energy, non-competitive social dance done to live, roots-based music. “Contra” refers to the formation of dances in lines “opposite” to each other. The dances resemble madcap English country dances and require fast reflexes. Each dance is taught briefly, so no experience is needed; however, we recommend newcomers attend the 30-minute orientation session before the dance. No partner necessary. Wear comfortable clothes and shoes. Presented by Harvest Moon Folk Society, Greenville’s contra dance group for more than 35 years. Cash at the door.
