About the festival:
Open Air Media Festival (OAMF) is an outdoor media arts program founded by artist and educator Zen Cohen. Launched in Iowa City in 2020, the festival was created to support media artists while encouraging chance encounters with the public in safe, accessible outdoor spaces during the pandemic. Since then, it has grown into a nationally recognized program through receiving a Grant for Arts Projects by the National Endowment for the Arts in 2024, funding support from the Andy Warhol Foundation for the Visual Arts with Public Space One in Iowa City, and through partnerships with nonprofit arts organizations. All events are free and open to the public, broadening access to contemporary media art through shared, community-centered experiences.
