Capturing Light in Oils

This still life workshop will focus on painting directly from life and realizing the visual effect early in the painting process, avoiding preliminary drawing. This is to keep interest and energy throughout the process and to convey a sense of life and joy in the painting. Students will explore the use of color, value, paint quality, edges, and brushstroke in oil paint. There will be a demonstration each morning and students will design their still life set ups from the objects, fruit and flowers provided. Students are welcome to bring some of their own objects if they choose. This class is appropriate for all levels. Students bring their own materials.
