color mixing for landscape painting

Join me for a two‑day workshop on color mixing for atmospheric landscapes. This class is designed for beginners who want to understand how color creates mood, depth, and a sense of place. Over the next two days, we’ll explore how the sky sets the emotional temperature of a painting, how soft gradients shape atmosphere, and how certain colors naturally push forms back while others pull them forward.
We’ll start with simple, friendly exercises that help you see color relationships clearly. Then we will create quick studies, small skies, and experiments with warm and cool mixes. You’ll learn how a sky’s value and temperature influence everything beneath it, from distant trees to foreground grasses. On day two, we’ll slow down and focus on a single painting, using value harmonies and complementary colors to build depth and atmosphere with confidence.
By the end of the workshop, you’ll have a stronger sense of how color behaves in landscape painting and how to use it to create scenes that feel soft, spacious, and alive.
