Jerry Herman’s classic musical, at its heart, is about relishing life and love. Matchmaker Dolly Levi is a widow, a matchmaker, and also a professional meddler, but everything changes when she decides that the next match she needs to make is to find someone for herself. Set in Yonkers, NY, and New York City at the turn of the 20th Century, Hello Dolly! bursts with humor, romance, and charm from start to finish.
Directed by Reed Halvorson, with musical direction by Julie Florin and choreography by Katie Stewart, Hello, Dolly! features such memorable songs as “Put on Your Sunday Clothes,” “It Only Takes a Moment,” “Before the Parade Passes By” and, of course, the title song, “Hello, Dolly!” The production boasts 20 local actors, including Upstate stage veterans Mary Freeman as Dolly Levi and Rod McClendon as Horace Vandergelder.
