Begun in 2006, the Open Studios Retrospective is an exhibit of artists who have participated in Greenville Open Studios since its inception in 2002. The exhibit runs in conjunction with Artisphere, Greenville’s premier arts festival, and it allows for greater exposure and awareness of Greenville-area visual artists. It also generates additional interest and publicity for the full-fledged Open Studios event in November.
Due to COVID-19 the event is fully virtual this year but will still feature works in a 12 x 12 (x12) inch format.
May 4 – June 17, 2021

501 River Street | Downtown Greenville, SC
My works come mainly from experiences gained through years of traveling and experiencing other places.
From camping trips with my family as a child (48 states) through the wandering years as an exchange student and English teacher in Europe, I’ve walked through ancient streets and museums of Europe, hiked the Rockies and Alps, trekked up Machu Picchu, the desert Southwest and seen the midnight sun in Alaska and Norway. All these things come to me as memories and dreams and contribute to the art I create using Italian marble plasters, acid and dye stains, real earth pigments, waxes and varnishes.
