On Friday, June 19, over 120 local artists started making a work of art that was completed in less than a day. Flat Out Under Pressure, MAC’s annual 24-hour art-making challenge continued this year on a completely virtual platform, challenging artists to carry on the tradition by documenting their process from start to finish from their studios via emailed photos and videos.
Each of the 8 winners will have their work replicated onto the 8 recycling bins in downtown Greenville, adding beauty to the sidewalks of Main Street and encouraging everyone to keep our city green.
This oil painting exhibit explores themes of dignity and beauty in the commonplace by showcasing a collection of various subjects comprised mainly of portraits but extending to nature themes.
Kelli Emig, grew up in rural Pennsylvania and was part of a large family where she learned the value of hard work and the dignity of the worker. From an early age she began to appreciate and find beauty in the common, ordinary ways of life around her and this continues to be a theme in her work today.
