SUMMARY:Kim Hassold + Craig Ragsdale are “Side by Side” at the Neighborhood Cancer Connection
DESCRIPTION:The Neighborhood Cancer Connection Presents Side by Side: An Art Exhibition Featuring Kim Hassold and Craig Ragsdale\nArtists’ Reception: Thursday\, September 17\, 2026 | 5:30–7:30 p.m.
Exhibition Dates: September 17 – December 31\, 2026 \nThe Neighborhood Cancer Connection (NCC) is proud to present Side by Side\, a special exhibition featuring Greenville artists Kim Hassold and Craig Ragsdale. On view from September 17 through December 31\, 2026\, the exhibition celebrates the power of art\, community\, and compassion—reflecting Neighborhood Cancer Connection’s mission to walk side by side with individuals and families throughout the cancer journey. \nAbout the Artists\nThough distinct in style and medium\, Hassold and Ragsdale share a common ability to create deeply personal work that invites reflection\, hope\, and connection. Their exhibition offers visitors an opportunity to experience two unique artistic voices brought together by a shared belief in the transformative power of creativity. \nKim Hassold embraces a wide range of artistic media\, often creating her own painted papers to achieve the exact colors and textures her mixed-media compositions require. After a successful career in fashion and journalism\, she now devotes herself full-time to her studio practice at Art Crossing Galleries in downtown Greenville\, where her joyful\, layered work continues to inspire collectors and visitors alike. \nCraig Ragsdale’s paintings explore the space where observation\, memory\, and imagination intersect. His work transforms fleeting moments into enduring visual narratives\, inviting viewers to pause\, reflect\, and discover beauty beyond words. Through thoughtful compositions rooted in both personal experience and universal themes\, Ragsdale creates art that speaks to resilience\, legacy\, and human connection. \n“At the Neighborhood Cancer Connection\, we believe healing is strengthened through community\,” said Lisa Colby\, Executive Director of the NCC. “This exhibition beautifully reflects our mission of walking side by side with those facing cancer. Kim and Craig have each created work that encourages hope\, reflection\, and meaningful connection\, making Side by Side a fitting celebration of both art and compassion.” \nThe exhibition title carries multiple meanings: two artists exhibiting together\, artwork displayed side by side\, and the enduring commitment of the NCC to stand beside cancer patients\, survivors\, caregivers\, and families throughout every stage of their journey. \n“As curator\, I was drawn not only to the exceptional quality of Kim and Craig’s work\, but also to how naturally it echoes the mission of the Neighborhood Cancer Connection\,” said Emily M. Randolph\, Art Curator and Board Member of the NCC. “Their individual artistic voices complement one another in remarkable ways\, reminding us that while every journey is unique\, none of us has to walk it alone. Side by Side is ultimately a celebration of art’s ability to bring people together.” \nThe public is invited to attend the opening reception on Thursday\, September 17\, from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. Guests will have the opportunity to meet both artists\, enjoy refreshments\, learn more about the Neighborhood Cancer Connection’s programs and services\, and weather permitting\, enjoy the NCC’s beautiful Serenity Garden. Admission to both the reception and exhibition is free. \nThe Neighborhood Cancer Connection provides practical support\, educational resources\, and compassionate encouragement to individuals and families affected by cancer throughout the Upstate. Through exhibitions like Side by Side\, the organization continues to foster healing by connecting art and community. A portion of all proceeds from the exhibit will benefit The Neighborhood Cancer Connection. \nThe gallery is open to the public during NCC’s business hours: Mondays to Thursdays from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. (the office is closed daily for lunch from 12:30 to 1:30 p.m.) and Fridays from 8 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.
