DESCRIPTION:Presented by the Utsey Chamber Music Series at Clemson University. \nViolinist Lun Li is committed to creating thought-provoking\, boundary-pushing concert experiences for contemporary audiences around the world. A native of Shanghai\, China\, he won the 2021 Young Concert Artists Susan Wadsworth International Auditions\, along with the Paul A. Fish Memorial Prize and the Buffalo Chamber Music Society Prize\, and was named John French Violin Chair at YCA. A member of the Chamber Music Society of Lincoln Center’s Bowers Program\, Lun has toured extensively with the Society. \nIn the first half of the program\, he will perform solo works\, which include Johann Sebastian Bach’s Partita No. 2 and Tessa Lark’s Jig and Pop. He will be joined by Brooks Center Director Emerita Lillian Harder in the second half for César Franck’s Sonata for Violin and Piano in A Major. SUMMARY:Isidore String Quartet in performance with cellist Sterling Elliott
DESCRIPTION:Presented by the Utsey Chamber Music Series at Clemson University. \nSince its founding in 2019\, the Isidore String Quartet has won both first prize and the Haydn prize at the 2022 Banff International String Quartet Competition and was honored with a 2023 Avery Fisher Career Grant. Now in their 20s\, this ensemble has unquestionably risen to the top of the crowded young quartet scene. In addition to a Haydn quartet\, the ensemble will perform Billy Childs’s Quartet No. 4\, which was written expressly for them and which they premiered in February of 2026. \nCellist Sterling Elliott joins the quartet for Franz Schubert’s monumental C Major Quintet. In addition to being awarded a 2021 Avery Fisher Career Grant\, Elliott was named a BBC New Generation Artist in 2024 and was the recipient of the Sphinx Medal of Excellence in 2024\, the highest honor bestowed by the Sphinx Organization. \nFREE and open to the public.
