SUMMARY:MEDIA SWAMP: New Media in the South
DESCRIPTION:Tiger Strikes Asteroid Greenville (TSA GVL) proudly presents Media Swamp: New Media in the South\, a group exhibition featuring work by Sam Blanchard\, Nick Bontrager\, Eric D. Charlton with Adam Wagerman\, Chalet Comellas\, Antonio Darden\, Tesora Garcia\, Fabiola Larios\, Cristina Molina\, yétúndé ọlágbajú\, Clint Sleeper\, and Masha Vlasova. The exhibition runs from May 1 through June 6\, 2026\, with an opening reception on Friday\, May 1\, from 6–9 PM. \nMedia Swamp: New Media in the South brings together artists whose practices move through the South. The Media Swamp functions here as both geography and metaphor—across video projections\, physical media installations\, and a screening room of looping single-channel works. The exhibition unfolds as an immersive environment where time-based and computational processes echo throughout the gallery. \nThe work in this exhibit examines the South as a dynamic region where cultural memory\, technological infrastructure\, and ecological conditions are intertwined. Some works engage archives\, found footage\, and scanned materials as sites for reanimation and transformation\, while others examine parallels between human\, digital\, and hybrid bodies through processes of public ritual and digital rendering. \nThe exhibition is curated by TSA GVL members who also work in new media: Kiley Brandt\, Zen Cohen\, Rebecca Forstater\, Dana Potter\, Michael Webster\, and Rachel Lin Weaver. \nThe closing weekend will feature an outdoor video art screening on First Friday\, June 5\, from 8:30–10 PM\, hosted by Open Air Media Festival. The program is curated from a national open call by Zen Cohen and Dana Potter.
