SUMMARY:Night Shifts with Emily Randolph
DESCRIPTION:Visit mixed-media abstract artist Emily Randolph in Studio A at the Greenville Center for Creative Arts on April 3\, 5-8PM during the GCCA’s Night Shift evening. \nEmily Randolph is an American contemporary artist whose work centers on abstraction informed by the rhythms of the natural world. Known for her minimalist compositions on birch wood panels\, Randolph creates paintings that explore the dialogue between color\, light\, and architectural silence. Her practice balances intuitive gesture with deliberate reduction\, producing works that are simultaneously expressive and contemplative. \nOriginally trained in photography and design and influenced by the perceptual questions posed by modernist abstraction\, Randolph developed a visual language that distills landscape into essence rather than depiction. The tactile presence of birch wood — chosen for its tonal warmth\, strength\, and organic architecture — provides both a conceptual anchor and a physical counterpoint to her restrained palette and layered surfaces. Her work has been acquired by private collectors across the United States\, and continues to evolve in scale and atmospheric depth. Randolph lives and works in South Carolina\, where proximity to water\, horizon lines\, mountains and open light remains an enduring catalyst for her artistic inquiry. \nwww.EmilyRandolph.com\nInfo.emrART@gmail.com\n101 Abney Street\nUpstairs in Studio A\nGReenville\, SC 29611

SUMMARY:Capturing Light in Oils
DESCRIPTION:Our perception of the visual world is dependent on light. In order to learn to paint life convincingly\, one must learn how to translate into paint the light that falls upon the things we see. This workshop will focus on painting directly from life and realizing the visual effect early in the painting process\, avoiding preliminary drawing. This is to keep interest and energy throughout the process and to convey a sense of life and joy in the painting. There will be a demonstration each morning and students will design their still life set ups from the objects\, fruit and flowers provided. Students are welcome to bring some of their own objects if they choose. This class is appropriate for all levels. Students bring their own painting materials. A supply list will be provided.

SUMMARY:Daydreamers & Other Nightmares
DESCRIPTION:Greenville Center for Creative Arts\, Daydreamers and Other Nightmares – Reimagining Myths and Legends for a Collective Future\, curated by Brad Silk. Local artists of Upstate South Carolina were invited to submit works that explore the connection between mythology\, nostalgia\, and contemporary identity. By reimagining art history\, and mythologies\, explore how contemporary creators use collective stories to reflect and reinterpret the challenges of our time\, from political unrest to climate change and global crises. This is not simply a nostalgic gaze into the past\, but an intentional use of myth and nostalgia to process trauma and imagine a hopeful future.
