Working from a single\, sustained pose\, students will have the time to slow down\, observe carefully\, and build their painting step by step. \nWe’ll use the limited Zorn palette—titanium white\, ivory black\, yellow ochre\, and cadmium red—to simplify color mixing and help you focus on the essentials of painting. SUMMARY:Art & Light | Anchorage Exhibition Series: Audrey Phillips
DESCRIPTION:Art & Light Gallery and The Anchorage Restaurant are pleased to announce the fall/winter exhibition in their 2026 partnership series\, featuring the work of painter Audrey Phillips from October 7\, 2026 to January 5\, 2027. \nFor Audrey Phillips\, the solitude of being in nature provides an invitation to become present\, expanding the moment of stillness into an opportunity to observe sensations like the feeling of humidity and the sound of cicadas during a summer storm in the South. These sensory impressions find their way into her large-scale painterly abstractions\, where color\, movement\, and mark-making create an immersive visual landscape. \nPhillips states\, “Art making reminds me I am a part of the always changing energy of nature. Together with the materials and this activated experience\, a transformation takes place within me and on the canvas. As with life\, the journey and the outcome are endlessly intriguing.” The abstraction in Phillips’ paintings often compels the viewer to stop and linger\, connecting with something palpable and familiar in the work. She employs complex mark-making and evocative color to facilitate a state of transcendence\, offering the viewer a welcome space for renewal and healing.” \nJoin Audrey Phillips for an intimate artist talk on Thursday\, November 19\, 2026 from 5:00 – 6:30pm. Enjoy a signature cocktail by mixologist Mills Higgins along with Chef Zurkey curated small bites inspired by Audrey’s paintings. Tickets are $35 and include small plates and a signature cocktail. Sales are limited with only 25 spaces available.Visit The Anchorage to purchase tickets for the event. While Audrey Phillips’ exhibition is on view at The Anchorage Restaurant\, work included in the show is available for purchase through Art & Light Gallery.

SUMMARY:Blue Plate\, New Monotypes by Dana Jones
DESCRIPTION:Wilkinson ART Gallery is pleased to host an opening reception for Blue Plate\, monotypes by artist Dana Jones\, on Saturday\, November 21\, 2026\, from 7 to 9 PM. \nJones wanted to extend a short series of five blue-and-white paintings completed in 2024\, titled Ponds & Pools. \nThe original series of paintings was made from dozens of translucent layers of paint. As he was about to embark on the long\, tedious process of painting these\, he was introduced to the monotype process with guidance from fellow artist Phil Garrett\, in collaboration with Butcher Shop Press. \nJones says: \n“Ink\, paper and pressure seemed a more engaging\, more direct means of building this body of work. Monotype is a simple process (make a painting on a plate\, run it through a press\, and thereby transfer that painting to paper). It wholeheartedly welcomes accident and chance into the creative process. It is also\, for me\, an invitation and a challenge to make the most of a very humble skill set. \n“I hope that the result\, several months and dozens of attempts in the making\, will bring you the sense of being at the water\, a chance to think and see.” \nThis will be an essential catch-up and refresher with Dana\, and your best chance to see some of his most recent work. \nThe exhibition runs through December 19\, 2026\, and is free to the public. \nWilkinson ART Gallery is located at 39 Blair Street\, Greenville\, SC 29607\, in a downtown residential area near Cleveland Park. Convenient curbside parking is available at no charge. \nRegular hours: Tuesday–Friday\, 1:00–6:00 PM; Saturday\, 1:00–4:00 PM. Closed Sundays and Mondays. \nFull gallery information is available at http://lineandcolor.net. Call or text Joel Wilkinson at 864-235-4483\, or email jwilkinsonstudio-wa@gmail.com.

SUMMARY:Beethoven’s Violin Concerto
DESCRIPTION:Prepare for an evening of electrifying artistry as the Greenville Symphony presents a program that journeys from fate‑defying turbulence to radiant symphonic triumph. The concert opens with Carlos Simon’s Fate Now Conquers\, a visceral\, rhythmically charged work that mirrors Beethoven’s own spirit of defiance. \nAt the heart of the program is Beethoven’s majestic Violin Concerto\, performed by one of the most compelling rising stars in classical music today—Brazilian violinist Nathan Amaral. Winner of the 2024 Sphinx Competition and the Grand Prize of both the Concert Artist Guild (CAG) and Young Concert Artist Trust (YCAT) competitions\, Amaral has quickly gained international acclaim for his extraordinary expressive range and rare ability to “get to the heart and soul of musical expression\,” as Yo‑Yo Ma has praised. \nAmaral has appeared as soloist with renowned ensembles including the Boston Symphony Orchestra\, Philadelphia Orchestra\, and the Philharmonia Orchestra\, and has been named a Classic FM Rising Star under 30. He has graced legendary stages such as Royal Albert Hall\, Wigmore Hall\, the KKL at Lucerne Festival\, and Konzerthaus Dortmund\, rapidly emerging as a powerful new voice on the global concert scene. \nThe evening concludes with Schumann’s Symphony No. 3 (“Rhenish”)\, a sweeping\, jubilant celebration of life and landscape—music that lifts the spirit and fills the hall with warmth and grandeur. \nFrom the bold colors of Carlos Simon to Beethoven’s transcendence and Schumann’s exuberant finale\, this is a concert experience that showcases the full emotional spectrum of orchestral music—anchored by the unforgettable artistry of Nathan Amaral.
