SUMMARY:"Botanic Beats"
DESCRIPTION:“Nature has an unhurried rhythm that grounds me. In watching plants grow\, gather\, bloom\, and fade\, I’m reminded that every ending holds the seed of something new. Botanic Beats is my way of honoring that quiet\, constant cycle\,” remarks Pavni. \nThis sense of rhythm forms the backbone of Botanic Beats\, a stunning body of work that pulses with movement\, pattern\, and harmony. Each piece is a unique blend of botanical markings\, signature pattern work\, and a kaleidoscope of bright\, uplifting hues. \nPavni’s compositions invite viewers to explore and reconnect with the natural world\, celebrating its ability to comfort\, inspire\, and endlessly regenerate.

SUMMARY:Greenville Technical College's 34 Awards
DESCRIPTION:The Department of Visual Arts at Greenville Technical College is proud to announce 34 Awards. These student works are the award winners from the GTC Department of Visual Arts’ 2025 “Visual Arts Annual Student Exhibition” (VAASE). 34 Awards is now on view at Good Art Co.\, 10 Central Avenue\, downtown Greenville and will continue every Wednesday through Saturday\, 10-6 through February. The First Friday Reception is February 6\, 6-9 pm. These award-winning student works represent the best of the best from Greenville Tech’s Department of Visual Arts (DVA). 52 Visual Arts students entered 138 works in DVA’s annual fall juried competition. 55 works were juried into the 2025 “Visual Arts Annual Student Exhibition\,” and 34 were awarded cash prizes. \nMany thanks to our 2025 VAASE juror\, Denise Woodward-Detrich\, the Director of Lee Gallery in the Department of Art at Clemson University and a ceramic artist herself. Denise took a day out of her busy schedule to view all the entries and choose works that comprised VAASE including 34 Awards now on view. She stated\, “I’ve seen many artworks over the years\, and I’ve always been impressed with the quality of work being produced by Greenville Tech students. The tradition of excellence within Greenville Tech’s Department of Visual Arts is widely known!!” \nThe Department of Visual Arts at Greenville Tech offers associate degrees and certificates in fine arts\, graphic design\, photography\, and web design. Greenville Tech’s DVA graduates are highly sought after by local advertising firms\, professional photographers\, and regional universities. 34 Awards showcases DVA’s varied curriculum: ceramics\, design & color\, digital imagery\, drawing\, graphic design\, photography\, typography\, and web design. Join us at 34 Awards to celebrate the success and diligence of all GTC’s student artists and the excellence of the DVA faculty. All high school students interested in continuing studies in visual arts can discover the quality and breadth of Greenville Tech’s locally available art education by visiting 34 Awards.\nVAASE awards were made possible by generous contributions from the Jean T. and Heyward G. Pelham Foundation\, plus the Metropolitan Arts Council (MAC) with funds received from the City of Greenville\, BMW Manufacturing Company\, SEW Eurodrive and the South Carolina Arts Commission. The MAC grant funds are matched by our 2025 corporate sponsors APCO Plastics\, Bennetts’ Frame & Art Gallery\, Suburban Paint\, and the Greenville Tech Foundation. Their generosity made it possible for us to double the total amount of cash awards from previous years. Thank you. \nThank you to Shaun McCallum of Good Art Co. for demonstrating his enthusiasm for emerging artists by hosting 34 Awards. Please visit getgoodart.co or call (864) 381-7539.

SUMMARY:Heroes of the Fourth Turning
DESCRIPTION:It’s nearing midnight in Wyoming\, where four young conservatives have gathered at a backyard after-party two days before the 2017 eclipse and a week after the Charlottesville riot. They’ve returned home to toast their mentor Gina\, newly inducted as president of a tiny Catholic college. As their reunion spirals into spiritual chaos and clashing generational politics\, it becomes less a celebration and more a vicious fight to be understood. Will Arbery’s haunting play offers grace and disarming clarity\, speaking to the heart of a country at war with itself.

SUMMARY:YELLOW THERE! - A Solo Exhibition by Kevin Kao
DESCRIPTION:The Sheffield Wood Gallery is pleased to present YELLOW THERE!\, a solo exhibition of sculpture by Kevin Kao\, opening January 27\, 2026\, with a Closing Reception on February 26\, 2026\, from 6:00–7:30 p.m. The exhibition is free and open to the public by appointment. \nKao’s work is constructed through a lens of cultural hybridity\, drawing from familial narratives\, the body\, and multiplicity to examine themes of assimilation\, belonging\, and collective identity. His sculptural installations explore the tension between individual and group\, often referencing ancient art historical forms to re-present ideals through double entendre and humor. By finding “the funny in the formal\,” Kao creates evocative suggestions of an Other through materials such as clay\, wood\, metal\, thread\, and surfaces that evoke flesh\, fruit\, and hair. \nInfluenced by Lacan’s conception of the self-image\, Kao’s figurative work investigates reflection\, refraction\, gaze\, and desire. Surface plays a critical role in his practice\, operating as both seductive and concealing—inviting viewers in while simultaneously obscuring\, much like Narcissus confronting his own reflection. Through these material and conceptual strategies\, Kao addresses perception\, objectification\, and the construction of identity.\nWithin a broader context\, Kao’s practice questions value and its relationship to history\, craft\, and authorship. His work examines how materials have been handled across time and how sculptural traditions can be reimagined to speak to contemporary issues of body\, taste\, and power. \nBorn and raised in California\, Kevin Kao is a sculptor that explores the construction of collective identity through figure\, reflection\, and multiplicity. His work has been exhibited internationally in galleries and spaces such as The Crocker Art Museum in Sacramento\, CA; Atlanta Contemporary in Atlanta\, GA; and the Kranzberg Arts Center in St. Louis\, MO. Recent awards include recognition as a 2021 finalist in the Young Sculptors Competition at Miami University\, the Artist Support Grant from the Regional Arts Commission in St. Louis\, and the Warren MacKenzie Advancement Grant presented by the Northern Clay Center in Minneapolis. He has earned a B.S. in Biology – Ecology\, Evolution and Animal Behavior from the University of California\, San Diego; and an M.F.A. in Studio Art – Ceramics from the University of Tennessee\, Knoxville. Currently Kao lives and works in Greenville\, SC serving as Associate Professor of Art at Furman University

Please note that we are only looking for art for the poster design; do not include text information about the events! Entries are due by February 10. Use the form at the bottom of this page to submit your work for consideration. \nThe winning art will be featured in the festival poster and program\, as well as on our social media\, email blasts\, and website!
