SUMMARY:Coppélia

When Franz becomes enchanted by Coppélia\, a beautiful girl who sits motionless on Dr. Coppélius’ balcony\, Swanhilda grows jealous and suspicious. Determined to uncover the truth\, she sneaks into Dr. Coppélius’s workshop\, only to discover that Coppélia is not a real girl but a mechanical creation. Cleverly disguising herself as the doll\, Swanhilda teaches both Franz and the doctor a lesson\, leading to a joyful conclusion that celebrates her reconciliation with Franz. SUMMARY:MEDIA SWAMP: New Media in the South
DESCRIPTION:Tiger Strikes Asteroid Greenville (TSA GVL) proudly presents Media Swamp: New Media in the South\, a group exhibition featuring work by Sam Blanchard\, Nick Bontrager\, Eric D. Charlton with Adam Wagerman\, Chalet Comellas\, Antonio Darden\, Tesora Garcia\, Fabiola Larios\, Cristina Molina\, yétúndé ọlágbajú\, Clint Sleeper\, and Masha Vlasova. The exhibition runs from May 1 through June 6\, 2026\, with an opening reception on Friday\, May 1\, from 6–9 PM. \nMedia Swamp: New Media in the South brings together artists whose practices move through the South. The Media Swamp functions here as both geography and metaphor—across video projections\, physical media installations\, and a screening room of looping single-channel works. The exhibition unfolds as an immersive environment where time-based and computational processes echo throughout the gallery. \nThe work in this exhibit examines the South as a dynamic region where cultural memory\, technological infrastructure\, and ecological conditions are intertwined. Some works engage archives\, found footage\, and scanned materials as sites for reanimation and transformation\, while others examine parallels between human\, digital\, and hybrid bodies through processes of public ritual and digital rendering. \nThe exhibition is curated by TSA GVL members who also work in new media: Kiley Brandt\, Zen Cohen\, Rebecca Forstater\, Dana Potter\, Michael Webster\, and Rachel Lin Weaver. \nThe closing weekend will feature an outdoor video art screening on First Friday\, June 5\, from 8:30–10 PM\, hosted by Open Air Media Festival. The program is curated from a national open call by Zen Cohen and Dana Potter.

SUMMARY:Draw Near
DESCRIPTION:Join Spoonbill Gallery for a special artist reception celebrating Nathaniel Mather and his newest body of work\, Draw Near\, a thoughtful and personal series of abstract mixed media paintings. \nBased in Nashville\, Mather’s work grows out of an intuitive\, layered process where painting becomes a kind of reflection and daily practice. This collection is rooted in the idea of seeking guidance\, strength\, and transformation. The exhibition takes inspiration from a verse in the Book of James. Each piece builds over time\, with layers of texture and movement that allow thoughts and emotions to surface naturally. The work feels open and honest\, inviting viewers to slow down and connect.

SUMMARY:Greenville Open Studios: Artist Registration
DESCRIPTION:APPLY TODAY! Greenville Open Studios celebrates the local visual arts community with free studio tours for the public. What began as an idea among a small group of artists to raise awareness of their practice in the greater community has evolved into a full-fledged annual event. This exciting tradition is now celebrating its 24th year! \nThe goals of Greenville Open Studios are to provide free and convenient community access to visual arts\, to educate and create a dialogue between artists and the general public by opening artists’ places of work and inviting the community-at-large to participate in the creative process and to create new marketing opportunities for artists. It is the organizers’ desire that the project will open up the world of visual artists to everyone – from the seasoned collector to the first-time art buyer to the curious general public. In 2025\, the self-guided tour featured 160 artists at over 96 studio locations throughout a 15-mile radius of downtown Greenville with Easley\, Greer\, Travelers Rest and Simpsonville. The Open Studios catalog will be available at the MAC office and local businesses in Greenville County in October. The Open Studios catalogue serves as a vital resource for art supporters\, and will also be available after the event throughout the year. Stop by at any time of the year and pick up a Open Studios brochure to learn more about MAC and Open Studios!

SUMMARY:Allison Ford and Caroline Calder Present “The Color of Hope: Where Nature Dances” | A Celebratory Exhibition Supporting the Neighborhood Cancer Connection
DESCRIPTION:Opening Reception: Friday\, May 1\, 2026 | 5:30 – 7:30 PM \nThe Neighborhood Cancer Connection’s art gallery – “the art gallery at NCC” – is honored to present The Color of Hope: Where Nature Dances\, a vibrant and uplifting exhibition featuring the work of Greenville-based artists Allison Ford and Caroline Calder. Their paintings celebrate the restorative power of the natural world and capture nature in motion—where color\, light\, and form evoke the rhythms of renewal\, growth\, and resilience. \nThe exhibition reflects the organization’s mission of support and healing. Just as nature continually renews itself\, the paintings within this show remind us that hope often appears in quiet but powerful ways—in color\, movement\, and the beauty that surrounds us. \nAt its heart\, The Color of Hope reflects the mission of Neighborhood Cancer Connection: to support individuals and families navigating cancer with compassion\, strength\, and community. The exhibition is an invitation to experience beauty\, connection\, and renewal through art. \nAbout the Artists\nAllison Ford is a lawyer and abstract/collage artist from Greenville\, South Carolina.  Her work is inspired by her children\, her faith\, bright colors and the sky\, and organic shapes. She tends to paint her feelings and gravitates toward bold colors\, incorporating many textures\, depth\, and layers. She works frequently with interior designers and families alike\, and her work can be found in commercial spaces\, retail locations\, and beautiful homes throughout the Southeast and the United States. \nCaroline Calder\, a Greenville-based artist\, brings a contemplative and expressive voice to the exhibition. Working primarily in acrylic and mixed media\, Calder explores color\, texture\, and pattern through an intuitive process that reflects both the natural world and the inner landscape of the human experience.\nHer work invites viewers into a space of reflection and hope—encouraging a sense of possibility and forward movement. Calder’s work has been exhibited at Centre Stage\, Fork & Plough\, Thornback Gallery\, and the Indie Craft Parade Mini Market\, as well as in juried exhibitions across the Upstate. She is the recipient of multiple awards\, including honors from the Metropolitan Arts Council\, Camperdown Art Walk\, and Anderson Arts Center\, and was a finalist and People’s Choice Award winner in the BMW Pro-Am Poster Contest. \nArt with Purpose\nA portion of all proceeds from the exhibition will benefit the nonprofit Neighborhood Cancer Connection\, directly supporting local individuals and families impacted by cancer. Through direct financial assistance\, emotional support\, and community-centered initiatives\, NCC addresses both the practical and human dimensions of care. \n“the art gallery @ NCC” is open to the public during the NCC’s regular business hours: Mon – Thurs. 8-4:30 | Fri 8-12:30 | Closed 12:30-1:30.

SUMMARY:Verdant Paths: Annalisa Fink\, Holly Graham\, Sali Swalla
DESCRIPTION:Art & Light Gallery is happy to present Verdant Paths an exhibition of work by Annalisa Fink (Lexington\, S.C.)\, Holly Graham (Charlotte\, N.C.) and Sali Swalla (Los Angeles\, CA) launching on the Art & Light website and in the gallery at 10am (EST) on Tuesday\, April 28 with an opening reception on Friday\, May 1 from 6:00 – 8:00 PM. In Verdant Paths the artists address the familiar concept of a path lush with greenery. Though the vision of a path weaving through foliage is ubiquitous\, the journey on that path can be very different. We all walk different paths\, even on the same trail. In this group exhibition\, each artist interprets the metaphor of a verdant path to express the unique experience of their own personal journey. With vibrant color and layered texture the paintings create a sensory environment that reshapes the viewer’s perception.

SUMMARY:Cultivated Chaos: Cora Morris\, Teresa Roche\, Laurel Siwicki
DESCRIPTION:Art & Light Gallery is thrilled to present Cultivated Chaos an exhibition of work by Cora Morris (Savannah\, G.A.)\, Teresa Roche (Greenville\, S.C.) and Laurel Siwicki (Niceville\, F.L.) launching on the Art & Light website and in the gallery at 10am (EST) on Tuesday\, March 31 with an opening reception on Friday\, April 3 from 6:00 – 8:00 PM. Cultivated Chaos unites the work of three unique artists\, each interpreting plant life through diverse techniques—from ceramics and cyanotypes to painting and mixed-media collage. The artists share snippets of their favorite gardens\, whether carefully cultivated or wildly untamed – to explore the many stages of growth and decay. From the emergence of new growth to exuberant flourish\, decay and quiet renewal. Together the work forms a living tableau\, an organic array that celebrates the beauty of impermanence and the perpetual life cycle in the garden. Whether rough or refined\, chaotic or composed\, this exhibition invites viewers to linger in the in-between spaces—where growth meets decay\, and endings are never truly final.
