About Art on the Trail
Art on the Trail is a one-day immersive art experience set along the iconic Swamp Rabbit Trail in Downtown Travelers Rest. This creative gathering invites guests to taste a slice of the culinary arts, arouse your inner artist through interactive visual and performing demonstrations, shop for delightful artwork and keepsakes at our Art Market, and take home a piece of the experience for yourself!
About the venue
The venue has changed this year. We are returning to the Swamp Rabbit Trail after several years at Trailblazer Park. The Prisma Health Swamp Rabbit Trail is a 22 mile multi-use community trail that has more than 500,000 annual users. It is not just seen as recreation but also a vital transportation option for those who live and visit Greenville and Travelers Rest, South Carolina. It’s a place where artists find inspiration, a community celebrates revitalization, visitors revel in trendy first-rate shopping and dining options, and where accomplished businesses and laid-back folks call home.
Situated at the foothills of the Blue Ridge Mountains, Travelers Rest is home to some of the areas best restaurants and the Prisma Health Swamp Rabbit Trail connecting to nearby Greenville, SC. All are welcome to discover why Travelers Rest made the USA Today’s list of Best Southern Small Towns. It’s small town perfection with an upbeat, urban vibe that will stay with you always!
Estimated Attendance: 5,000 historically but we expect many more in 2019 because of the new venue and advertising opportunities!
About this year’s jury: This year the jury will not consist of TRAA board members. Instead, jurors are made up of local artists, gallery owners and business operators familiar with our community and e-commerce trends. We will have a very special guest juror, Frank Lee Ruggles, eminent National Parks Service photographer and successor to Ansel Adams. Frank is a conservationist, an artist, a nationally recognized photographer, published author, speaker and television celebrity. If Frank is not filming his TV program in October, he will attend Art on the Trail in 2019 and be a part of a demonstration or photo walk.
We’ll see you on the trail!
